The Beginner’s Guide to Building An Impactful Career

(Book Cover Design by sieundsie )

This book is an exciting roadmap for four distinct groups of individuals:

  • Those aspiring to build careers in for-impact organizations but may not fully grasp the necessary steps or how these organizations function.

  • Individuals who seek to work for companies that genuinely make a difference, distinguishing between surface-level “green-washing” and authentic impact.

  • Visionaries who want to actively contribute to impact-driven teams, whether in the corporate sector or beyond, with a focus on corporate responsibility.

  • Changemakers with the ambition to launch their social impact initiatives, even if they’re uncertain about going solo or don’t know where to begin.

  1. Mentorship – Find people you admire and follow them or ask them to offer you support and guidance.

  2. Write down your goals – If it is not written down, it is not real. Write it and visualize it.

  3. Change your mindset – Think about how you can improve your life. Think positively.

  4. Learn to take breaks – These give you energy to go to the next level

  5. Find a tribe of women who support you all the way.

Employee Ambassador Spotlight: Fungai Mettler

Thank you to the MSD for Mothers team for featuring me as the employee ambassador for this quarter! It is such an incredible honor to drive maternal health equity with you all on a daily basis! During the interview, when asked if any lived experience had inspired me to get involved, here is a part of what I said;

"As I began to go through the different life stages as a woman, the loss of my parents, but more heavily, the loss of my mom, became harder. I’ve learned firsthand that when a mom is not present in her little girl’s life, that life is just not the same. My childhood experience is the reason why I connect so deeply with the MSD for Mothers’ mission - to ensure that no woman dies while giving life. Each day, I’m inspired to do everything in my power to never have another child live their life without their mother by their side."
