A tree’s beauty lies in its branches, but its strength lies in its roots
I decided to repot one of my plants because it had outgrown its original pot.
I couldn’t just remove the plant without taking care that the roots remained intact. With damaged roots the plant would not survive the repotting.
We have heard it said that a tree’s beauty lies in its branches, but its strength lies in its roots. What does this mean for me?
Our stories and pasts are our roots. If taken away, we would not flourish into healthy plants/people.
Difficult stories and experiences are beneath the surface for many of us and are critical for our survival – let us never forget them. I am not my past but without it I would not be standing.
I have learnt this - and it has become my source of strength. Learning to draw inspiration from very simple things is so liberating.
